For many of you visiting my website this is your first serious accident and you are unfamiliar with lawyers and our legal system.  Some of you may even feel reluctant to contact a lawyer and are not sure you are doing the right thing.  You or your loved one is injured and that’s troubling enough.  Now you now have to deal lawyers, courts and many unfamiliar things. It may feel overwhelming, maybe frightening.

These basis facts might make it easier:

When you are injured by someone and they are at fault our legal system gives certain rights.  You have a right to be compensated money for your damages.  Money will not take away your injury but it will help with medical bills, loss wages or earnings, future medical bills and the pain, suffering and inconvenience that you and your loved one has suffered.  You may also be entitled to money for how your marriage has been hurt by your injuries and for nursing care provided my loved ones or family members.

Whatever injuries you have suffered, your life has been put on hold or forever altered.  You have been hurt, your body and mind have been changed, your relationships have been damaged, your work has been setback or you may be disabled from work.  You may have scars or you cannot walk or pick up things or bend and move as you used to do.  Right now, you or your loved one may be in physical or emotional pain.

What you have suffered is not your fault therefore our law gives you a right to compensation.  This is not done for vengeance or to hurt the person who harmed you. It is to obtain financial compensation for your injuries. Money will never make up for what you have lost but it is the best our legal system offers.

-He must believe in your case and be willing to do the best he can to make sure you are fairly compensated.

-He must have access to a network of experts and have the ability to use them effectively to prepare and present your case with the greatest impact.

-He must have the capital needed to invest in your case so that the effective experts and techology are used.

-He must have the ability to prosecute your case effectively but at the same time keep track of and manage costs and expenses prudently so that in the end, you, the client, receives fair compensation.

-He must know how to analyze, investigate, prepare and present your case so as to obtain the best resolution.  And if after all this, no reasonable settlement is forthcoming, then he must be willing and able to file your lawsuit and fight tooth-and-nail until he has persuaded defendants or a jury to give you the compensation you deserve.

What happens after you sign up with our as our client?

Your attorney and his staff will immediately begin gathering information and evidence to be used in maximizing the value of your case.  You may have to undergo further medical care and procedures.  Your focus shall be on getting well and furthering your recovery.

At one point, when you have recovered from your injuries or when they have stabilized, your attorney shall present your case to an insurance company or to the party that injured you. Generally, soon after that an offer will be made and negotiations to settle your case begins. You shall be kept informed as this process unfolds and you are encouraged to call the office with your questions and comments. Though most cases settle soon, some must go through mediation, arbitration or trial.
